SELCO - Portland Forest Park Branch

SELCO Community Credit Union – North Redmond Branch

New Ground Up Building

With the growth of Redmond and the surrounding area, SELCO wanted to build a full-service branch to serve its members in the northeast section of the city. They were able to secure well-positioned property immediately north of Walmart. In August 2021, work began on the vacant lot and the new building was completed for opening in May 2022.

Many members have expressed appreciation for the new branch’s design and for its proximity to their home and work. SELCO branding is on full display at the new branch. The drive-up features wide lanes and an escape lane that allows traffic flow to be unimpeded. The 24/7 vestibule features an additional ATM.

The branch has a relatively small footprint which enabled a tighter budget while still providing a spacious feel through the building’s vaulted entry and open public area. The design team’s layout works to create a good flow for serving members. A community hub with bench seating and a fireplace wall cultivates a sense of welcome and community.

As always, working in an unfamiliar city setting had its challenges. However, the City of Redmond building department and its commitment to customer service facilitated a gentle learning curve as new supportive relationships were forged. Rounding out the construction team in a busy season for contractors was an additional challenge. We benefitted, though, by having many of our trusted contractors from the valley travel with us to serve the project. And it was a great help having local contractors that served with us in our SELCO West Bend building also join us at North Redmond.
