The Duck Store

The Duck Store

Remodel and Renovations

McKenzie Commercial has completed multiple renovation projects at two different locations for The Duck Store. First, we handled a complete renovation of The Duck Store at Valley River Center that involved demoing the shop and rebuilding the walls, ceilings, casework and windows. The store sits next to the mall’s busy food court, which required us to carefully manage noise and dust to avoid disturbing patrons. This $196,000 project took about 2½ months and was completed in April 2008.

The next year, we completed a full demolition of the The Duck Store’s cramped, old computer department to create an efficient retail space, featuring bright colors, light wood and frosted white shelving. The work occurred within steps of busy retail space, while the main Duck Store and adjacent businesses remained open. We installed high-end cabinetry and tile flooring and built a new entrance to the street, being careful to accommodate the flow of pedestrians on the sidewalk. This $287,000 job was completed in a fast-paced, three-month window, wrapping up in April 2009.

In 2014, we did a full remodel of the campus location, which included reorganizing the layout of the main floor to make navigation more efficient. The cafe was updated to allow for faster service, better traffic flow and more seating. We also added ADA restrooms, offices and a dressing room. Second floor-modifications allowed for students to have better access to textbooks. We also added new conference rooms, a copy room, new storage and book sales spaces and offices, as well as a new HVAC system.
